Learn the Fundamentals of Exceptional Photography
It‘s frustrating when your photos don’t turn out the way you wanted.
You try and try and still they don’t capture the emotion and passion you felt when you were taking them.
Maybe they’re too busy, dark or fuzzy, with people not looking their best or landscapes too far away and you’ve no idea how that happened.
It’s as if the camera is speaking a foreign language to you: all those icons, lenses and dozens of possibilities. It’s enough to make your head spin.
It’s easy to be hard on yourself for not taking photos that get you excited. Or to feel intimidated because your friends, husband or kids are doing a way better job than you.
Imagine the excitement of taking photos like a professional! Photos that reflect your passion, that tell the story you want to tell and that you’ll always cherish because of the memories they create.
It can seem like an impossible dream.

How motivating would it be to take in-person classes with a teacher who encourages and excites you? Someone who connects personally with you every step of the way so you never feel alone. That’s what I offer. I have a light-hearted, playful approach while bringing in creativity and making it fun for you to learn to take photos you’ll be proud of.
I share my professional knowledge of how to take and edit outstanding photos. Then with my help, you can apply these techniques to your own photos so that they reflect your passion, capture what you see - and you can’t wait to share them with family and friends. You’ll learn how to professionally take photos.
My Story
When I started taking photos with my phone camera, it was humbling and frustrating to see the awful results. I should have known how to do this as a professional photographer right?
I trained, applied my photography skills and with practice my phone photos became better and better. Now I help phone photographers to take unique and expressive photos that are fueled by WHY they’re doing it, photos that tell their story, that light them up and inspire them.

But where on earth do you start to nurture your dreams of creating beautiful memories?
Take the first step by looking at the foundational phone photography program, Expressions I, I’m offering in March, 2022.
Expressions I
Live, online class dates: March 5, 12, 19 and 26

What People Are Saying
Nadia Van Doren
“Before I took Debbie’s program I struggled to take photos that captured the beauty I see in life. Now I have much more confidence and the skills to take photos that match my vision.
Debbie has a unique talent to offer simple explanations to complicated technical skills. She inspired me to find the heart and meaning behind my photography. I’m using my photos for advertisements for my small business on social media.”
Bill Saffin
“I enrolled in your course because I didn’t really think of my phone camera as a viable camera. Sure, I could snap a quick photo with it, but I preferred to use my real camera. From the first class I was prepared to give my phone camera a chance.
I experimented and was surprised at the functionality I didn’t know my phone camera had. Each week I learned even more. I could even capture RAW photos to work with later. I use my phone camera more now than ever and would never have considered that before the course. My photographic horizons have greatly expanded. Thank you, Debbie.”
Pam Vipond
“Debbie took the mystery out of all the icons on my phone and put it into my photos.”
Nicole Boisvert
“I didn’t understand all the functions of my phone. I also wasn’t very happy with my food photos and it’s important to me because I love cooking. I’m proud of my food photos now and inspired to do a food photography project this winter.
From taking Debbie’s class I discovered I was just documenting events and not taking the time to "see" what I actually wanted to take a photo of and set the composition etc. before snapping a picture. Debbie is so heartfelt in her approach. She clearly has a passion for teaching others to be better at photography.”
Diana Roberts
I wasn’t sure how to edit my photos – there were too many features in the phone editing that I didn’t understand and simply avoided. Now I feel confident that if I take my time I can capture the photo that I want (even if it isn’t perfect I know how to edit it to make it even better).
I recommend this program because it’s so practical and hands-on – the exercises and homework will push your creative boundaries and the constructive feedback will help you improve your photos.”
Lucas Roberts
“I was struggling to take photos that I was proud to show/share, that felt artistic and captured the beauty I was seeing.
After taking the course I got better! I feel it's more possible, fun and motivating to capture the beauty I see in the world. I now have photos to print and put on a wall that will make people stop and say wow.
Debbie is a kind and encouraging teacher with a keen eye. She has a well-organized 4-week program with some beautiful photo samples from many pro photographers including her own. I particularly liked the weekly assignments; my wife and I went on some great "photo walks" together, taking many photos we loved and shared!”
